A new construction window is a window that is designed to be installed during the construction of a new building or addition.
The new construction window has a nailing fin which allows the window to be nailed or screwed to the buildings wall before siding (or other exterior finish) is applied which allows for a tighter fit.
Once the new construction window is installed the siding can be installed over the nail fin.
